With the main purpose in mind, Arts in Your Neighbourhood set out to encourage Singaporeans to immerse themselves in the arts & culture scene and integral as part of their lives. The event is important to the community as it creates interactive art installations and experiences to residents’ everyday lives and daily routine.

Looking at the National Arts Council Mission, Vision & Values, events they have created were to:

1. Inspire Our People: empowering Singaporeans to create, present and appreciate excellent art
2. Connect Our Communities: bringing diverse communities together to enjoy and support art
3. Position Singapore Globally: showcasing our local arts & culture icons and works to audiences and critics locally and overseas

NAC is making the effort to bring forward our local communities’ art to the global stage, not neglecting people with a talent and passion for art and letting it go to waste. Through showcasing the different creators’ piece/s, NAC is taking the first step to publicize artists’ work and providing them with future opportunities to do more.

Discuss the importance of community to the event

As mention in Arts in Your Neighbourhood’s purpose, their main purpose is to encourage Singaporeans to be engage in the arts & culture scene. Without the participation of the community, NAC would not have served the event’s purpose. Arts in Your Neighbourhood also invites proposals from creative producers, artists and arts organizations to create unique pieces that were inspired by the various neighbourhoods, residents, history or heritage and present them during the activation of Arts in Your Neighbourhood.
